How To Measure (Women)

How to Take Your Measurements?

We recommend that you take your measurement before you place an order and leave your measurements in the message box when ordering, because it is your special day, but if you are sure of your measurement please choose from our chart.

It's really best to have a professional seamstress/tailor take your measurements.

Taking your own measurements will almost always result in inaccuracies.

It's best to be measured wearing the exact undergarments, slip, and shoes you'll be wearing.

Designers determine their size by the bust, waist, and hip measurements. Some will also include a “Hollow to Hem” measurement; this is the measurement from the base of the neck (hollow of the neck) to the bottom of the hem.

Use ONLY a standard cloth measuring tape. Do not pull the tape tightly; it should be just tight enough to stay in place. Please keep in mind that cloth measuring tapes can stretch out.

If the dress is A-line or Empire waist, your measurements should be focused on your bust & waist. If the dress is a Mermaid/Fit & Flare, you will need bust, waist, and hip measurements.

If you cannot match your exact measurements to all three measurements indicated on the designer’s size chart we suggest ordering according to the largest measurement. Remember, garments can be taken in, but taking them out depends on the seam allowances which, in most cases, are very slim. Additionally, a custom gown can always be ordered.

*Size charts are to be used as a guideline. Sizes may vary by dress style and body type*
